This summer, Rocket House Pictures had the pleasure of hosting a group of enthusiastic students from The Logan School for Creative Learning’s summer program, “The Learning Lab,” for an immersive hands-on filmmaking experience. The workshop, held at the innovative Circuit Studios, was designed to introduce the fundamentals of filmmaking to these budding young creators, providing them with the tools and inspiration to explore the world of video production.
The Logan School’s Learning Lab program is renowned for nurturing creativity and independent thinking, making it an ideal match for a workshop focused on the collaborative and expressive nature of filmmaking. Over the course of the day, students explored various aspects of film production, gaining insights into how ideas are transformed into visual stories.
During the workshop, we discussed key concepts such as scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, and the importance of storyboarding in the pre-production process. The students engaged in extensive discussions about how storyboarding helps in visualizing scenes and planning shots, providing them with a foundational understanding of its role in filmmaking.
The highlight of the session was the hands-on experience where the students brainstormed an idea for a commercial to promote The Learning Lab. With guidance from our team, they worked together to refine their concept and brought it to life through a collaborative filming process. The students took on various roles within the production crew, including cameraman, camera assistant, and on-screen talent, allowing them to experience different facets of a professional film set.
After the workshop, our team at Rocket House Pictures took on the task of editing the commercial, ensuring it met the professional standards expected in the industry. Once completed, the final version of the commercial was shared with all the students, giving them the opportunity to see the fruits of their labor and understand the post-production process.
At Rocket House Pictures, we believe in the power of storytelling and the importance of nurturing the next generation of creators. This workshop was not just about teaching technical skills, but also about empowering students to use film as a medium to express their ideas and creativity. We were thrilled to see their excitement and the innovative ideas they brought to the table.
We extend our gratitude to The Logan School for Creative Learning for partnering with us on this project, and Circuit Studios for hosting such an amazing day. As we continue to support creative initiatives like this, Rocket House Pictures remains committed to our mission of making videos that matter—and helping others do the same. We look forward to future opportunities to inspire and educate young filmmakers.
